This itinerary is not for the faint of heart. It requires a lot of driving, but the rewards are endless, with temples, mosques, churches, fortresses, Medieval walls, beaches, wineries and a whole lot more to keep the trip exciting. Circling through central and Southern Portugal, the itinerary continues to wind through Western and Central Spain and back through Northern Portugal. Stops in Southern Portugal include Tomar, Marvao, Evora, Evoramonte, Elvas, Estremoz, and Villa Vocosa. Stops in Spain include Caceres, Merida, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Toledo, Madrid, Avila, Segovia, Burgos, Bilbao, Santander, Oviedo, Lugo, and Santiago de Compostelo. Stops in Northern Portugal include Pinhao, Guimaeres, Nazare, Aviero, Porto, Coimbra, and Lisbon.
