Turin Duomo

Turin Duomo (Cathedral of St. John the Baptist) – Turin, Italy

The Turin Duomo, officially the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist, stands in the historic center of Turin near the former royal palace of the Savoy dynasty. Built in the late 15th century, the cathedral is the only major Renaissance church in the city.

The cathedral is most widely known as the home of the Shroud of Turin, a revered religious relic believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The shroud is preserved within a specially constructed chapel adjoining the cathedral.

The cathedral’s white marble façade and quiet piazza provide a striking contrast to the surrounding Baroque architecture that dominates much of the historic city center.
