Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari – Venice, Italy
The monumental church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, often simply called the Frari, is one of the most important religious buildings in Venice. Built primarily during the 13th and 14th centuries, the church reflects the Gothic architectural style associated with the Franciscan order.
Inside the vast brick church are several masterpieces of Venetian art, including the famous Assumption of the Virgin painted by Titian. The church also contains the tomb of Titian himself as well as monuments to other notable figures in Venetian history.
The Frari stands as one of the great artistic and spiritual landmarks of Venice.
