Maulbronn Monastery – Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The Maulbronn Monastery lies in the rolling countryside of Baden-Württemberg in southwestern Germany. Founded in the 12th century by the Cistercian Order, the monastery developed into one of the most important monastic complexes in medieval Europe.

The monastery complex includes churches, cloisters, defensive walls, and agricultural buildings that remain remarkably well preserved. Its architecture illustrates the transition from Romanesque to Gothic styles, reflecting centuries of monastic development.

Today Maulbronn Monastery is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in Europe.
