Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial

Meuse–Argonne – France

The Meuse–Argonne region of northeastern France was the site of one of the largest and most significant battles of the First World War. The Meuse–Argonne Offensive, launched in 1918, was a major Allied campaign that involved more than one million American soldiers and helped bring the war to its conclusion.

The landscape today is dotted with memorials, military cemeteries, and preserved battlefield sites that commemorate the soldiers who fought in the region. Forests and rolling hills that once formed part of the battlefield now provide a quiet setting for remembrance.

The area remains one of the most important historical landscapes associated with the American experience in World War I.
