Kotor at Night – Kotor, Montenegro
The town of Kotor sits at the end of the Bay of Kotor, a deep natural harbor often compared to a fjord, surrounded by the steep limestone mountains of coastal Montenegro. At night the medieval walls and towers of the old town are softly illuminated against the dramatic mountain backdrop.
The fortified city lies beneath the towering slopes of Mount Lovćen, where ancient defensive walls climb the mountainside high above the town. Within the old town, narrow streets and small squares reveal stone churches, palaces, and medieval buildings that reflect centuries of Venetian influence.
Viewed from the waterfront after dark, the lights of Kotor and its surrounding mountains create one of the most atmospheric nighttime scenes along the Adriatic coast.
