Huaca Pucllana

Huaca Pucllana – Lima, Peru

The impressive adobe pyramid of Huaca Pucllana rises unexpectedly within the modern district of Miraflores in Lima. Built around 500 CE by the Lima culture, the site once served as an important ceremonial and administrative center long before the rise of the Inca Empire.

Constructed from thousands of hand-formed adobe bricks, the pyramid complex includes plazas, ceremonial spaces, and burial areas that have been uncovered through archaeological excavations.

Today Huaca Pucllana offers a remarkable contrast between ancient history and the surrounding modern city.
