High Tatras – Slovakia and Poland
The High Tatras form the highest and most dramatic portion of the Carpathian Mountain range, rising sharply along the border between Slovakia and Poland. Though relatively compact in area, the range contains rugged granite peaks, glacial valleys, alpine lakes, and steep ridgelines that give the landscape an almost alpine character.
Many of the photographs from this region likely feature views of peaks such as Gerlachovský štít, the highest mountain in the Carpathians, along with glacial lakes like Štrbské Pleso or Popradské Pleso nestled beneath the surrounding ridges.
The region has long been known as one of Central Europe’s most spectacular mountain environments, with hiking trails, mountain railways, and scenic overlooks providing access to dramatic alpine landscapes.
