Fes Madersa Attarine

Attarine Madrasa – Fez, Morocco

The Al-Attarine Madrasa is one of the most beautiful religious schools in Morocco. Constructed in the 14th century during the Marinid dynasty, the madrasa served as a center of Islamic education connected to the nearby Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque, one of the oldest universities in the world.

The madrasa is celebrated for its exquisite decorative detail. Intricate zellij mosaic tilework, carved stucco patterns, and cedarwood screens surround the central courtyard, creating one of the most elegant architectural spaces in the medina.

The building remains a remarkable example of the artistic and intellectual traditions that flourished in Fez during the medieval period.
