Marrakech – Morocco

The historic city of Marrakech lies at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in western North Africa. Founded in the 11th century, the city became one of the great imperial capitals of Morocco and an important center of trade connecting the Mediterranean world with caravan routes crossing the Sahara.

Marrakech is known for its distinctive red-colored buildings and walls, which have earned it the nickname “The Red City.” Within the old city walls lies a maze of narrow streets, markets, and historic monuments that reflect centuries of Moroccan culture.

Today Marrakech remains one of the most vibrant and historic cities in North Africa.
