Haarlem – Netherlands
The city of Haarlem lies just west of Amsterdam near the North Sea coast. During the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century, Haarlem became an important cultural and artistic center.
The city’s historic Grote Markt forms one of the most beautiful squares in the Netherlands, surrounded by guild houses and dominated by the towering St. Bavo’s Church. Haarlem was also home to renowned painters such as Frans Hals, whose works helped define Dutch portrait painting.
Today Haarlem’s canals, historic streets, and well-preserved architecture reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Dutch Golden Age.
