Gros Morne National Park – Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Gros Morne National Park is located along the western coast of Newfoundland where the Long Range Mountains, the northern extension of the Appalachian range, rise sharply above the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The park is famous for its dramatic geological landscapes and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Towering fjords, steep cliffs, and glacial valleys define much of the coastline, particularly around Western Brook Pond, a spectacular inland fjord surrounded by sheer rock walls. The park also contains the unusual landscape known as The Tablelands, where ancient mantle rock has been pushed to the Earth’s surface, creating a barren, rust-colored terrain unlike anything else in Canada.
From coastal cliffs to high mountain ridges, Gros Morne presents one of the most striking natural landscapes in Atlantic Canada.
