UNESCO: Medina of Fez

Palais Mnebhi – Fez, Morocco

The historic Palais Mnebhi stands within the old city of Fez and is one of the finest examples of traditional Moroccan palace architecture. Built in the early 20th century for the Moroccan statesman Mehdi Mnebhi, the palace reflects the artistic traditions of the late Moroccan imperial period.

The structure is known for its elaborate courtyards, colorful zellij tilework, carved cedarwood ceilings, and decorative plasterwork. These architectural elements demonstrate the refined craftsmanship that characterizes historic Moroccan residences.

Today the palace complex houses cultural institutions and preserves an important example of Fez’s architectural heritage.
