Fez Medina – Fez, Morocco
The Medina of Fez forms the ancient heart of Fez, one of the oldest and most important cities in Morocco. Founded in the 8th and 9th centuries, Fez became a major center of Islamic learning, trade, and craftsmanship in North Africa.
Within the medina, a maze of narrow lanes, markets, workshops, and courtyards creates one of the largest and best-preserved medieval urban landscapes in the Islamic world. Traditional tanneries, mosques, madrasas, and caravanserais reflect the city’s long role as a center of commerce and scholarship.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medina of Fez remains one of the most remarkable historic cities of the Mediterranean and Islamic world.
