Assos – Kefalonia, Greece
The small seaside village of Assos sits on a narrow peninsula along the northwestern coast of Kefalonia. Colorful houses cluster around a sheltered harbor beneath steep green hills, creating one of the most picturesque villages on the island.
Above the village rise the ruins of the Assos Castle, a massive Venetian fortress built in the 16th century to protect the region from pirate attacks and foreign invasions.
The combination of historic ruins, quiet harbor waters, and surrounding mountains makes Assos one of the most beautiful locations on Kefalonia.
