Durado and the Namib

Doro Nawas – Namibia

The remote region of Doro Nawas lies along the edge of Damaraland, a rugged landscape of rocky hills, dry riverbeds, and desert plains. This semi-arid environment supports a surprising variety of wildlife that has adapted to the harsh conditions.

Desert-adapted elephants, oryx, springbok, and other animals travel through the region’s dry valleys in search of water and vegetation. The dramatic scenery of granite outcrops and wide open skies gives the region a sense of isolation and natural beauty.

Doro Nawas serves as a gateway for exploring the unique desert ecosystems of northwestern Namibia.
