Lisse – South Holland, Netherlands
The town of Lisse lies in the coastal province of South Holland, between the cities of Leiden and Haarlem. The surrounding countryside is famous for its vast flower fields, where rows of tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils bloom each spring.
These fields form part of the historic Dutch bulb-growing region, where flower cultivation became an important agricultural industry beginning in the 17th century. During the spring season, the brightly colored fields create one of the most recognizable landscapes in the Netherlands.
Lisse serves as the gateway to the nearby gardens of Keukenhof and the surrounding flower-growing region.
