Moru Kopjes – Serengeti, Tanzania

The Moru Kopjes rise from the open plains of the Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. These rocky granite outcrops stand above the surrounding grasslands and create natural vantage points for wildlife.

Lions are often seen resting on the rocks, using the elevated terrain to watch for prey moving across the savanna. The kopjes also shelter a variety of other animals, including leopards, hyrax, and numerous bird species.

Beyond their ecological importance, the Moru Kopjes also contain ancient Maasai rock paintings, providing a glimpse into the long human history of the Serengeti landscape.
