Anakena Beach – Easter Island
The white sands of Anakena Beach form one of the most picturesque landscapes on Rapa Nui. Unlike the island’s many rocky coastlines, Anakena features a sheltered bay with palm trees and soft coral sand facing the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.
According to Rapa Nui tradition, Anakena is believed to be the landing place of Hotu Matuʻa, the Polynesian leader said to have first settled the island. Nearby stands the restored ceremonial platform Ahu Nau Nau, where several well-preserved moai statues overlook the beach.
The combination of cultural history and natural beauty makes Anakena one of the most memorable locations on Easter Island.
