Lecce Cathedral – Lecce, Italy
The elegant Lecce Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, stands in the historic center of Lecce in southern Italy. Originally built in the 12th century and later redesigned during the Baroque period, the cathedral reflects the artistic character that defines much of the city.
Its ornate façade and richly decorated bell tower showcase the distinctive Lecce Baroque style, created using the region’s soft golden limestone. Inside, elaborate altars, sculptures, and paintings illustrate the decorative traditions of southern Italian churches.
The cathedral forms the centerpiece of Piazza del Duomo, one of the most beautiful squares in Lecce.
