Kilkenny

Kilkenny – Ireland

The city of Kilkenny lies along the banks of the River Nore in southeastern Ireland and is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in the country. Founded during the early medieval period, the city later flourished under Norman rule.

At the heart of Kilkenny stands the impressive Kilkenny Castle, originally constructed in the 12th century by the Norman lord William Marshal. The castle and surrounding parklands dominate the skyline of the city.

Kilkenny’s narrow streets, historic churches, and traditional buildings give the city a strong medieval character that reflects its long history as an important regional center.
