Constantine Canyon and Bridges – Constantine, Algeria
The city of Constantine is dramatically perched on a rocky plateau surrounded by deep gorges carved by the Rhumel River. The steep canyon walls have made the city one of the most visually striking urban landscapes in North Africa.
Several remarkable bridges span the canyon, connecting different sections of the city high above the river below. Among the most famous is the Sidi M’Cid suspension bridge, which offers sweeping views across the dramatic cliffs and valleys.
These bridges and canyon landscapes give Constantine its distinctive character and have long defined the city’s geography.
