Atlanterhavsveien (Atlantic Ocean Road) – Norway
The spectacular Atlantic Ocean Road, known in Norwegian as Atlanterhavsveien, winds across a chain of small islands along the rugged coast of western Norway. Completed in 1989, the road connects a series of bridges that rise and fall dramatically above the open sea.
Powerful waves from the Norwegian Sea crash against the rocky coastline, creating one of the most dramatic driving routes in Scandinavia. The sweeping curves and elevated bridges of the road provide stunning views across the surrounding islands and coastal waters.
Today the Atlantic Ocean Road is widely considered one of the most scenic drives in the world.
