Amazon River – Peru
The immense Amazon River is the largest river system on Earth and the defining feature of the Amazon Basin. Flowing across the northern regions of Peru, the river gathers water from countless tributaries before continuing eastward across the continent toward the Atlantic Ocean.
The river supports a vast network of rainforest ecosystems that sustain extraordinary biodiversity. Riverboats and small motorized canoes travel along its waters connecting remote communities and rainforest lodges throughout the region.
The Amazon River remains one of the most powerful natural forces shaping the landscapes of South America.
