The Jardin d’Essai du Hamma is a historic botanical garden located along the waterfront district of Algiers. Established in the 19th century during the French colonial period, the garden was originally designed to cultivate and study exotic plant species brought from around the world.
The landscaped grounds contain palm-lined avenues, shaded walkways, and a wide variety of tropical and Mediterranean plants. Over time the garden has become one of the most peaceful green spaces within the city.
