Terra Nova National Park – Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Terra Nova National Park lies along the northeast coast of Newfoundland, where the deeply indented shoreline forms a network of sheltered bays and inlets connected to the North Atlantic Ocean. The park protects a landscape of boreal forest, rocky coastline, and quiet coves typical of the island’s eastern shore.
Numerous islands and narrow fjord-like bays create calm waters that contrast with the often rough conditions of the open Atlantic just beyond the headlands. Forested hills rise above the coastline, providing viewpoints overlooking the rugged shoreline and scattered islands of the park.
Wildlife such as moose, seabirds, and occasionally whales can often be seen along the coast, reflecting the rich ecosystems of Newfoundland’s maritime environment.
