Ahu Tongariki – Easter Island

The monumental platform of Ahu Tongariki is the largest ceremonial site on Easter Island. Along the platform stand fifteen restored moai statues, creating one of the most iconic archaeological scenes on the island.

Originally constructed centuries ago by the Rapa Nui people, the site was heavily damaged by natural disasters, including a tsunami in the 20th century. Extensive restoration efforts later re-erected the statues in their original positions.

Set against the open Pacific Ocean, Ahu Tongariki is one of the most dramatic and recognizable landscapes on Rapa Nui.
