The grand State Library Victoria is one of the oldest and most important cultural institutions in Victoria. Established in 1854, the library occupies a large historic complex in the center of Melbourne.
Its most famous interior space is the La Trobe Reading Room, a magnificent domed hall that serves as one of the largest reading rooms in the world. The library houses extensive collections of books, manuscripts, historical documents, and exhibitions relating to Australian history.
