Bunratty Castle – County Clare, Ireland
Bunratty Castle stands along the banks of the Ratty River near the Shannon Estuary in County Clare. Built in the 15th century, the castle is one of the most complete and well-preserved medieval fortresses in Ireland.
The structure consists of a tall stone tower house surrounded by defensive walls and corner towers that once protected this important crossing point near the River Shannon. Inside the castle, restored halls and chambers display furnishings and artifacts that illustrate daily life during the medieval period.
Adjacent to the castle lies Bunratty Folk Park, where reconstructed cottages, shops, and farmhouses recreate scenes from rural Irish life during the 19th century.
