Asian Art Museum of Corfu – Greece
The Museum of Asian Art of Corfu is located within the grand Palace of St. Michael and St. George overlooking the harbor of Corfu. Established in 1928, it remains the only museum in Greece dedicated exclusively to the art and antiquities of Asia.
The collection includes thousands of objects from civilizations across China, Japan, India, and Southeast Asia, ranging from ceramics and sculptures to lacquerware and religious artifacts. Many pieces were donated by diplomats and collectors who helped establish the museum during the early 20th century.
Housed within an elegant neoclassical palace built during the period of British rule in the Ionian Islands, the museum presents a fascinating cultural contrast within the historic setting of Corfu.
