Ahmed Bey Palace – Constantine, Algeria
The Palace of Ahmed Bey lies in the city of Constantine, dramatically positioned among deep gorges carved by the Rhumel River. Constructed in the early 19th century, the palace was built by Ahmed Bey, the last Ottoman ruler of the region before the French conquest of Algeria.
The palace is known for its beautifully decorated courtyards, marble columns, and elaborate painted ceilings that depict scenes from North African landscapes and historical events. The architecture blends Ottoman design with local artistic traditions.
Today the palace remains one of the most important historic buildings in Constantine and offers a glimpse into the final years of Ottoman rule in Algeria.
